Mathilda SuperWitch Mathilda Book of Shadows 1 edition by Kristen Ashley Contemporary Romance eBooks

Before reading this, I read a lot of the reviews on Goodreads. They are all over the place with ratings, but I decided to give it a go anyway. I am so glad that I stuck with it!

Yes, Mathilda, SuperWitch is written and diary style. And yes, when you begin to read it, it is quite annoying. What annoyed me the most wasn't the diary style of writing so much, it was all Mathilda's inner thoughts after inner thoughts and brackets upon brackets within the book. It took a while for me to train my mind to ignore them.

Mathilda herself was also quite annoying at times. She is a 34 year old woman, but the way she carries on and by the way that she thinks, she could have just as easily been 15. She came off as quite immature, and she was such a drama queen!

After I got past my issue with Mathilda's inner thoughts and all the brackets within the story, the book actually flowed quite nicely and I was totally hooked!

There's a taste of every paranormal and magical creature in this story. There's a lot of action and a story line that kept me guessing throughout. There are TWO heroes with totally opposite personalities, but who are both equally lovable.

I thought the book ended quite well. The storyline, for the most part, finished nicely. The annoying thing? We as readers are left wondering which of the two heroes Mathilda is going to choose! We are left hanging! Without even the tiniest clue as to which was she is going to swing!

I sure hope that the sequel to Mathilda, SuperWitch isn't too far away. I feel for those who have read it in previous years and are still waiting for the second book!

Mathilda SuperWitch Mathilda Book of Shadows 1 edition by Kristen Ashley Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I love me a good love triangle. Add some magic, friends, love, trust, family, and two hotties to choose from you get another beautiful story by Kristen Ashley. Mathilda is who I wanna be when I grow up. She might be the chosen one and required to stick to tradition and customs but add her own flair. Good triumphs evil in the end with some unfinished business but Mathilda leaves you with a happy sigh at the end.
I have now acquired every single Kristen Ashley book that's out, this being my last because I read reviews and was unfortunately swayed. But being a fan, I liked seeing where KA began and how she's developed as a writer. This had good character development, the classic KA humor and illustrative fashion and decor descriptions. I want to go to the witches dozen and have a donut and espresso and see what becomes of Matty, Aiden and Ash and the rest of the Honeycutt coven.
It pains me to say this, but this was my least favorite KA book. KA is one my favorite authors. My top 2 actually. I struggled with this one. And that ending? Um, who does Mathilda end up with?? It's all left up in the air. Grrrr
And the writing style with this one.....too many ack's, hmm's, and mm's.
Didn't like it. Not even a little. I love Kristen Ashley. Never, never, never thought I would give her only one star. This book was written from the view point of it being the main character's journal. The style made the story clunky and frustrating to read. It's too bad because when I think about many aspects of the book, I really liked the story. I just wish it had actually been written as a story. Thankfully I have dozens of other Kristen Ashley books I can gladly read over and over again to forget about this one.
I have been very slow to buy this one due to the reviews & unusual diary style it is written in. However, since my Kristen Ashley addiction needed a fix (3 more weeks till Sebring is released) I decided I deserved a special pre-Christmas gift to myself. I LOVED IT!!! Very different from KA's normal style, which made it even more of a pleasant surprise. Inventive, fun, some laugh-out-loud moments and all in all, a fun read. Can't wait for the next on in this series. I think Ms. Ashley shows she can do something very different & still maintain her Goddess of the Independent Woman status in writing! For Pete's sake, load it up people! It's worth it's very reasonable price!
As a HUGE KA fan, I put this off because of the bad reviews. Now that I've read the book, I'm wondering why?!? So, to be fair, it is different from her other books but you can tell it's pure KA. It has many elements of her other books. The characters - awesome. Ash and Aidan, HOT. The world-building and the setup, very good. I was nervous about the journal-style writing, that didn't detract from the story in any way for me.

I think more people should give this a chance. It was a fun, lighthearted book. I actually hope we get to see more of Mathilda!

** SPOILERS **

The two guys, that was a twist. I was sure it would be resolved, it wasn't. For some reason, the love triangle didn't bother me as much as I expected it to. I actually liked both guys, if I had to pick, I'm not sure that I could. Ash? Aidan?
I gave a four out of five stars because the design of the book is not enjoyable. It's a bad play by play diary of sorts. Not an actual smoothly flowing book, so going into the read knowing this might be helpful. Wish I knew since it never became comfortable for me.
The main character is Mathilda and she is a HOOT. Wish the other female characters had more depth. Lots of funny parts. Many names and small stoeies in the book which makes this SCREAM for a series...But isn't showing this as an option. Shock, especially since it is an earlier work of Kristin Ashley.

Heroine\protangonist is Matty/Mathilda. She reads like a Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum character. Then bring on the equally strong dominant men, Aidan and Ash.
Oh, be ready to have every single character get Nick name, even two, and try to keep up. Very childish.
Anyway, the side kicks can be more bland than substantial however a few get parts in some humor laugh aloud scenes.

Wouldn't mind giving this a chance if indeed a series spins off. There was enough to peak interests in Aidan, Ash, Mavis, and Addison not to mention BecBec and Josie and Rory.

So, for supernatural humor and fast read, worth a go!
