Truth and Lies Past and Present Katy Lily Series Book 1 edition by Katherine Rochholz Children eBooks

A book about magic was, at first, somewhat dismissive in my mind. Not my cup of tea. Until I found this unique tale. It was written in such a smooth and realistic fashion that every aspect of magic was relevant and natural.

I loved reading about everything that happened at the magic school and every detail about the different classes depending on you spirit and your power. I might sound boring but believe me, I soaked up every nuance about their classes and "homework". I must tell you, this is not a school at all like the schools on Earth.

Then along came a mystery that turned the story into a thriller. With the help of the amazing heroine, Kati Lily, you will be drawn in just as I was.

Truth and Lies Past and Present Katy Lily Series Book 1 edition by Katherine Rochholz Children eBooks Reviews

This book pleasantly surprised me. From the blurb, I thought that it was an adult book and that I wouldn't like it, but I was wrong. I quite enjoyed it once it got past the being Harry Potter's twin. For about the first third or more of the book I ought that I was reading Harry Potter but with an orphan girl. For enable, Katy recieved a letter of admissions to a magical school, then some man comes and finds her and takes her shopping for everything she will need for school like books, wands and cloaks. But first they had to go get her money from the bank which was ran by dwarves. Once at the school there are five different houses in which the students reside depending on what element they posses. Katy is a fire element she her outfit is a black skirt with a red blouse and yellow tie, and so on and so forth. Once all of that stuff is out of the way the book gets much better as we follow Katy through her first year of schooling at this magical school.
I really enjoyed Katy as a character. She grows on you right from the very beginning when she is living on the streets alone and orphaned at the young age of nine. Because of this, Katy is a tough little girl who knows how to stand up for herself. My only problem with Katy's character was that sometimes what she said and how she acts is way more mature than a nine year old. But otherwise what an awesome character. I'm excited to read the series and learn more about the other characters.
Again another great read by Katherine Rochholz. I would recommend this book to anyone pretty much as long as they can read. I will most definitely continue this series to see where the author is taking it.
I was given this book in return for an honest review. Katy is a young lady whose mother died and Katy now lives in the streets, dodging child protective services. On her birthday she finds a letter lying on the ground with her name on it. Thus her adventure begins. The letter is from Bridgett's school for Magical Arts, she is a witch and is to wait for someone to come to her, and then she will be attending the school. Of course, she scoffs at the idea until Antonio Jr. shows up to take her to get all of her magical school supplies. He becomes her friend and ally as well as Gaivan. Once at the school, Katy finds out that the magic is centered around the magical elements (earth, wind, air, and fire) Her mother's element was earth, her father's was air and her's for some unknown reason is fire. She is shunned by the other students and Gaivan remains her best friend. She has some investigating to do, she finds out that she has a father and a brother that she never knew exhisted, she can use all of the elements, she is under attack, and someone is hiding things from her. I enjoyed this book, I am a Harry Potter fanatic and this book has a similar feel to it, so I was immediately drawn into the story. This is her first book in this series and although it needed a little more editing, I can certainly overlook that in light of the fact that I enjoyed the story so much. In the end, isn't the story the most important part of the book? Looking forward to part 2. WaAr
This book is about a remarkable young girl named Katy Lily. We first meet her in the streets, alone because her mother died three years before. Her whole life she wished she had a family, friends, and a place to call home. That day magically happens when she recieved a rather odd letter. The letter was adressed to her and in it, it said that she was accepted to Bridgett's School for the Magical Arts. A school about discovery and magic. The letter told her to stay in New York and someone will find her to help her get to school. Katy is skeptical at first but since she has no where to go stays in New York. Days pass and she finally meets Antonio Jr. the first person she will consider a friend. He takes her to get her school supplies, including her wand and staff. She learns that every student in the school will have a element they can control and that her mother's element was Earth while her dad was air. But for some reasons they can't determine she holds the element Fire, like Antonio Jr. Katy Lily goes to school where she meets her best friend Gaivan and with his help she will find out more about her past, and why her future seems so important. Katy Lily finds out her first year at school that things in the magical world are not always what they seem and lies and secerts will come to pass. This book is year one for Katy Lily in Bridgett's School for the Magical Arts.

This book was amazing!! I was hooked from the first page. It has friendship, magic, secrets, and was beautifully written. I highly recommend this book, readers will not be disappointed. I can't wait to see what's to come in Katy Lily's second year at Bridgett's School for the Magical Arts.
Having never read Harry Potter and not seen the movie, I had no idea what to expect from this book, but I got right in to it. As I read, I expected to be overwhelmed by the magic and fantasy dialogue, but the author's excellent writing and the smooth flow of the plot held my interest until the very end.
I have no doubt, the many fans of Harry Potter will have a great time reading this book. They’ll be pleased to meet Katy Lily, Gaivan, and of course, the unflappable Antonio, the one who rescues her from the streets of New York. It's quite an adventure for Katy Lily, after being alone for three years, to suddenly find herself surrounded by so many magical characters. I highly recommend it to fantasy lovers.
