The cover of this book led me to expect a kind-of fun, light adventure, but it really isn't. Kiriel the demon longs for time away from Hell and takes over the human body of a slacker-boy named Shaun. Potentially a comic set up. But Kiriel brings with him thousands of years of living in Hell reflecting sorrow and grief back at the damned souls; he feels joy at first encountering the wonders of the world while fearing his bosses from Hell will track him down and make him go back. Not really comic at all. Kiriel/Shaun is a very sympathetic hero who is in a rather desperate situation which, by the end, becomes heartwrenching. Yes, there are lots of funny parts, but as Shaun's love interest, Lane, notes, there's a well of sadness behind Kiriel's eyes.

The author did a couple of things extremely well. The book is a first-person narration, and Kiriel's voice is terrific. This reader really felt his wonder at things like eating Froot Loops for the first time, or experiencing his first kiss. The relationships, particularly the one between Shaun/Kiriel and Shaun's younger brother, are so well done. The author also did a great job maintining suspense--Kiriel never gets to quite settle into his role because things keep knocking him out of it. Despite the pace, however, Kiriel has time to reflect on what is happening to him.

I found the ending perplexing. This reader was really torn by it. On the one hand, we want Kiriel to be able to stay on earth and not return to Hell. Yet we don't want him to go to heaven, which is boring. Yet we're never quite allowed to forget that a human boy, Shaun, inhabited the body before. I think the ending the author chose was the right one, yet somehow I wanted more for Kiriel.

Highly recommended, and more thought-provoking than you might expect from the cover.

Im not much of a reader but one day i got bored and went to the library and browsed their books. I came across repossessed and it is the only book i actually read all the way through. I loved it! I wanted to get it for one day my children can read. BUT I was delivered the wrong book. Im mean completely different. A book called "Best Kept Secret" about a female lawyer. Umm no im not interested. How can two completely different books get messed up?? I want the correct book in GOOD condition and not paper back. Very disappointed...
The premise is interesting A demon takes over a teenager's body moments before the teen is supposed to die. The demon's attempts to assume the boy's lifestyle without the boy's family and friends catching on are really funny, as are his reactions to things we mortals don't think much about, for instance, his total love for catsup. The demon gradually improves the teen's life, as well as the lives of his family and friends, and we readers come to appreciate life and understand our own human failings. Repossessed is a humorous book that made me think too. I'm very glad I read it.
I enjoyed this Young Adult novel about one of Satan's helpers, a "fallen angel" who has been in Hell oh, maybe 10,000 years, and is sent on Earth to take, for a very brief period of time, the physical form of Shaun, a teen boy who has just died. Kiriel, the demon angel, does a lot of good on Earth. He tries to keep people from ending up in Hell, and the results are funny and sad at the same time. One of the most touching parts of this book is the way in which Kiriel instills confidence in Shaun's younger brother.

The voice the author has created for Kiriel is very believable. The ending, though it seems the only logical ending, just isn't satisfying.
I was pleasantly surprised by this short little book. It's about demon who takes over the body of a teenager who is about to die. Kiriel is a very likable character for a demon. He reminded me, in a odd way, of Bartimaeus (The Bartimaeus Trilogy Boxed Set). He's obsessed with experiencing everything about human life that he can first hand. His biggest obsession is sex. Despite his sex drive, which the poor thing never gets to full fill, he does a lot of good things during his stay. Totally out of character for what you'd think a demon would do. I was saddened by the ending, but it was appropriate. Now I just wish there was more, like another book or something.

Read the book, you'll be glad you did.
REPOSSESSED is definitely one you might want to consider saving to read until you are safely alone... to avoid the bemused stares of strangers or the teasing of a spouse; as you will undoubtedly find yourself grinning like an idiot as you make your way through this witty and thoroughly entertaining read. As Kiriel, a Fallen Angel (aka demon) bails on Hell, fed up with his position and the lack of the Creators attention or interest in him and heads to earth on a "vacation."

Jenkins does and exceptional job with this fast paced read, vividly detailing Kiriel's experiences as he boldly ventures on this humorous exploit, of the human existence. The pure joy brought about by some of his simplest observations of life is infectious making the mischievous Kiriel an enduring character that is hard not to love; as he truly considers and appreciates all the emotional and physical beauty of everyday human life that most take for granted.

Beneath its weightier questions of faith, Heaven and Hell, REPOSSESSED is a cleverly told tale of experiencing life to the fullest and how your life and the way you choose to live it impacts so many others around you. I highly recommend this thought provoking and hilarious read.
